Fibrilin

A precious protein of elastic tissue

A non collagenic glycoprotein; it is a major constituent of microfibrils and is associated or not associated with elastin. It plays both a functional and structural role in the elasticity of tissue. Fibrillin is modified with the aging process during which a new structure of microfibrils is observed.

ROLE OF FIBRILLIN

  • Anchors epidermal cells to the elastic fibers of dermis
  • Binds cells to the extra-cellular matrix
  • A reservoir of Epidermal Growth Factors domains

COSMETIC PROPERTIES

  • Tissue cohesion and anti-strecthmarks
  • Antioxydant
